Ouisie's Table !!
Ouisie's Table is one of my favorite Houston restaurants with its good food and good service. They serve updated American food in a cozy yet grand environment best described as a happy Edgar Allen Poe. Ouisie's Table has huge black and white paintings/tapestries blending well with the black and white theme of the the walls. Even if you don't like the decoration, come and enjoy the food, starting with the jalapeno cornbread they make daily.
My favorite dish here is the shrimp and cheese grits--also a favorite dish for at least one Houston Press writer. The grits are perfectly cheesed, giving the grits a taste more akin to risotto than grits. The addition of bacon bits and the perfectly cooked shrimp delightfully complement the grits.
Rekha and I usually come for brunch--served both Saturday and Sunday. This Saturday, we took both our moms to an early Mother's Day lunch. Rekha had the excellent, if somewhat small-portioned cornmeal pancakes with fruit and sausage. I had some grilled beef with a mashed potato cake. Though the potato cake was good, it was also frozen in the center. I should have asked the waiter to take it back, but didn't want to ruin the perfectly pleasant conversation at the table. On the other hand, the meat was good and the warmed portion of the potato cake was fine. Our only scar thus far in the four visits in the last 3 months.

I DINED AT OUISIE'S TABLE LAST NIGHT. WHILE THE SERVICE PROVIDER WAS VERY PLEASANT, THE WAIT FOR OUR FOOD WAS LONG. WAS IT WORTH THE WAIT? NOT REALLY, I WAS NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE FOOD PREP-AS WELL AS PRESENTATION. MY MED-RARE PRIME RIBEYE WAS OVERCOOKED AND BARELY WARM- THE GRITS WERE GOOD AS WELL AS THE BLACKEYED PEAS AND CHEROKEE PICO, HOWEVER, FOR A SOUTHERN COOKING RESTURANT TO MAKE TOUGH AND TASTELESS MUSTARD GREENS IS BEYOND ME! WILL I TRY THEM AGAIN? YES! BECAUSE WHILE THAT WASN'T THEIR BEST PRESENTATION AT THAT TIME I'M SURE THEY WILL DO BETTER THE NEXT TIME. ATMOSPHERE WAS PLEASANT AND OTHER'S IN MY PARTY HAD INTERESTING COMMENTS ABOUT THEIR MENU CHOICES THAT HAS PROMPTED ME TO TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT. FOOD PORTIONS WERE OKAY FOR A MIDDLE OF THE ROAD EXPENSIVE REST-($23-$40) 11 IN MY PARTY DINED AND ALL HAD APPETIZERS AND NO DESSERT 540,00 WITH GRAT. NOT TOO BAD,BUT SURELY IT SHOULD HAVE HAD MORE BANG FOR THE BUCK!

Party of 12 for my girlfriend's birthday. the food was good. the atmosphere was a delight. but the management was rude and very unprofessional. the manager for the night, adam, was not accommodating to our service. We were charge without any notice.
We did not know that we were not supposes to bring outside food, but the coordinator did not mention that in the first place. whats the whole point of having an agreement or contract if everything is not listed in it. But one of our friends brought the birthday girl a cake for her birthday. So rather than have it sitting around in the room, we thought it would be best to store it. We did not ask them to bring it out or anything. At the end of the night, they brought out the cake and sliced it up for each person. But then, when handed the bill, there was a cutting fee. $3.00 per person. I have gone to alot of restaurants and never have i heard of a cutting fee. Management was HORRIBLE!

I attended a birthday dinner this month and everything was great until the bill was handed to us. There were charges charged to our bill for minor things that could have been prevented. If notified prior to the charges, then we would had left on a good note.
But when discussing the unaware charges with the manager, he was short and rude. Thats how you lose customers. In the service industry, its all about customer service and im sorry to say, they do not have that.
They hand you the bill and expect you to just pay.
